Stella Despoudi

Dr. Stella Despoudi is an Assistant Professor at Food Supply Chain Management & Logistics at the University of Western Macedonia, in Greece. Prior to this Stella has been working for Aston Business School, Warwick University, Coventry University and for Loughborough University’s School of Business & Economics. She holds a PhD in Food Operations and Supply Chain Management from Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics.  Stella’s research expertise lies in the following research areas: Circular food supply chains, supply chain resilience, industry 5.0, honey supply chain, food waste and food sustainability. Currently she works on multi-partner projects related to food supply chain resilience, climatic changes, and Industry 5.0. She also works as food supply chain consultant, and she is co-owner of a honey processing company called Melizin. She has been the lead investigator in research projects related to Food Supply Chain Management. Some examples are: ‘Sustainability, Resilience, and the Impact of Industry 5.0 in the Food Supply Chain’, ‘Towards Sustainable and Resilient Fresh Produce Supply Chains in Greece: A planetary boundaries perspective’, and ‘Food Waste and Food Losses in the Upstream Food Supply Chain’. She is Teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and member of Production & Operations Management Society, and European Operations Management Association.
