Advanced Modeling and Fabrication
Compulsory
2
The aim of this course is to offer to students from various backgrounds an introduction to advanced modelling techniques and digital fabrication methods. The students will learn about theoretical concepts, understand the elements and principles of design and the methodologies regarding various digital fabrication processes. The course approach will include both theoretical and practical knowledge, research into digital tools for CAD modelling and fabrication. The technical part of the course will cover the basics of parametric CAD modelling through specific exercises as well as a hands-on-experience in state-of-the-art equipment for different digital fabrication methods. Students will work with digital 3D models and learn how to prepare a file for a 3D Printing process. The course will cover the categories of digital fabrication methodologies ranging from 3D printing, injection molding, CNC milling, and laser cutting and engraving.
