Dr Ioanna Symeonidou is a practicing architect and product designer, experienced in the design and construction of geometrically complex structures. She is Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture of the University of Thessaly (UTH) in Greece and specializes in digital media for design and manufacturing, currently being  involved in interdisciplinary research and educational activities of Bachelor, Master and PhD level. She studied Architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed her postgraduate studies at the Architectural Association in London. Her PhD discusses digital design media in education. She has lectured internationally and collaborated with renown architectural firms and universities, including Graz University of Technology, International Hellenic University, among others. She is author of two books and numerous articles published in scientific journals, books and conference proceedings, and has participated in multidisciplinary research projects. She is member of international research groups and scientific committees. Her research interests cover different aspects of design with digital media, sustainable Architecture, algorithmic design, Digital Fabrication & Robotic construction, 3D printing, Biomimetics, Lighting Design, Digital Fashion Design, Video Games, Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR).
