Konstantinos Tsongas
Dr. Konstantinos Tsongas is an Assistant Professor at the Industrial Engineering and Management Department of the International Hellenic University (I.H.U.), Greece. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Engineering Departments of the International Hellenic University (I.H.U.) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.TH.) since 2018. He holds a diploma (5-year course) in structural engineering, a MSc on advanced materials and a PhD in mechanical engineering on the fields of nanocomposite polymers and dynamic mechanical behavior of structures. His PhD thesis is related to the vibration isolation performance of machines and structures by manufacturing novel nanocomposite mounts and it was supported by IKY (Greek State Scholarships Foundation) – Siemens, Fellowships of Excellence Postgraduate Studies program. Since 2013, he has been occupied as a Scientific Associate at the International Hellenic University (I.H.U.), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.TH.), the Center for Research and Technology Hellas (C.E.R.T.H.) and others, where he has been involved in 14 research projects (HORIZON 2020, HORIZON EUROPE, ERASMUS+ KA2, National programs - NSRF) dealing with Additive Manufacturing, Reverse Engineering and the Mechanical characterization of complex structures and Advanced Composite Materials. His research interests include Additive Manufacturing of nanocomposite polymers, Additive Manufacturing of recycled composites for sustainable structures, lattice structures, architected material, mechanical tests and material characterization (SEM & in-situ SEM), dynamic mechanical analysis, Digital Twins, Finite Element Analyses, vibrations, optimization processes and genetic algorithms. He is the co-author of 102 scientific publications (h index:23, citations:1350), including 62 articles in peer-reviewed Journals, 2 Book chapters in international editions, 34 papers presented in international Conferences and 4 papers in national Journals and Conferences/Workshops.
